Finding The Right Motorcycle Seat

Motorcycle Seat Options For All Purposes

Stock seats might be okay for some people, especially those that don’t ride their bikes a lot, but those who go on a lot of long rides might not be as happy with these seats as they would be with some of the other options available. There are a variety of different choices for aftermarket motorcycle seats that you can purchase for your motorcycle, whichever make and model you might have.

There are companies that make ready made custom motorcycle seats to fit the different makes and models of motorcycles, and these include Corbin motorcycle seats, Mustang motorcycle seats, and Sargent motorcycle seats. There are also companies that you can send your existing seat to in order to get it reupholstered (either in the same or different color of vinyl) and refurbished. Some companies will also take all of your information down and create a new seat just for you. If you have a passenger they will create the passenger seat for them at the same time. With all the different possibilities, it is a good idea to consider all of the different choices before committing to anything since you want to get the best possible seat.

Many of the companies that make custom motorcycle seats make Honda motorcycle seats and Yamaha motorcycle seats. There are some options available that have fancy stitching or options for different colors or materials (including leather and different types of vinyl). You can also get either one piece or two piece seats that allow you to carry a passenger (with or without backrests) and you can get solo seats as well. If you want a long lasting and comfortable seat, Mustang seats are known for these properties. Sargent motorcycle seats are known for being particularly lightweight and advanced in design.

Motorcycle gel seats are one option for aftermarket motorcycle seats that add to your comfort on long rides since they help to absorb any shocks and vibrations from the ride while spreading your weight out more over the seat so you stay more comfortable. If you don’t want to get a whole new seat (or can’t afford to get a new seat) you can invest in motorcycle seat covers that have gel in them, or that contain air cells or sheep skin in order to make your ride more enjoyable at a lower cost.

Saddlemen was the first to use gel in a motorcycle seat. I've had one of their gel seats for years and I love it. The other brands don't even compare.

Does anyone know what the name of the place in jonesboro that alters the seats is?

There is a company in Jonesboro Indiana that will take your seat and alter the OEM interior pad with gel and memory foam, recover it, and send it back to you for $129 single/$199 double plus shipping. I looked up the material online that they use and 2/3 of their price is the materials. The seat for my '91 HD FLHTC is going out tomorrow to them. Their website is http://ridenleather. com/ and they say they have done 1500 seats and never had one returned. Guess I'll find out in a week or so. They say their turnaround is 2-3 days. He did spend quite a bit of time on the phone with me.

This seat was really helpful. I knew I needed a different seat, but wasn't too sure how to find the right one for my needs. Thanks for the info.

I bought one those gel seats for my motorcyle about six months ago. I can't believe how much more comfortable it is that the one that came with the bike.

In an effort to save money, my husband sold his car and bought a second hand motorcycle to ride to work every day. He complains about how uncomfortable the seat is so I've ordered a gel seat and hope he likes it.

I ride a motorcylce every single day and the seat is really important. I had to buy several before I found one that I liked, but the effort it took to find it was well worth it.

A motorcycle seat is very important to riders. I had a motorcycle one time that had a seat that made me fell like i was riding a horse the whole time i was on it. Believe me the sight was not pretty.
